Our Mission 2011-2012

Our Mission is not just to promote Tubbercurry as a 'Better Place to Live'. It is to make Tubbercurry a 'Better Place to Live' and a' Better Place to visit. The Chamber is continiously lobbying council and politicians trying to have improvements made to our town.
Our website is going through its second re-birth to try and keep it up to date and maintain it a a useful tool for our community, visitors and locals alike.
We would like to see more local membership to make our website more inclusive. So if you are not a member please join now.
We would like to acknowledge the work of previous committees and Chamber Councils. Chamber Councils have worked hard, often thanklessly, over the years. The amount of time and effort given voluntarily goes largely un-noticed.
We hope to use this website and other media to keep chamber members
and the wider community informed of the work we do and plan to do in the future.

Shane Mulkeen
President

Christmas Lights

Like many of our projects this is always a work in progress. There is obviously considerable costs involved in the erection, taking down and ESB costs for these each year. In addition there is the cost of maintaining and adding to what we have.

Whats Happening

Tubbercurry Trail

We have just submitted an application for funding to build beautiful forest walk at Rathscanlon, Tubbercurry. Pending approval, this will be a wonderful addition to our town, for locals and visitors alike. Even with funding approved the Chamber will have to borrow money to complete this project. We hope to be able to reduce the amount we need to borrow by maintaining and increasing our membership. So if you are not a member Please Join Now and show your support.
Thanks to Roger Mc Carrick the driver of this project. And to Padraic Neary, Shane Mulkeen, Geraldine Brennan, Joe Walsh, Nuala Mullaney and Eamonn Gallagher in helping get the application submitted.
We also wish to thank Coillte and Connacht Gold for facilitating this venture.

This Website

Our Website is going through its 3rd rebirth. We want this to reflect all that is good about our town and what it has to offer. Alot of time and money has been spent on this over the years and it is always a work in progress.

Lobbying

The Website and walk projects have taken up most of the time we had available during the summer of 2011. The Chamber has lobbied on behalf of the town on many things over the years. Granted this has not always been to great success, but it is important that we make our voice herd. Local Road and Pavement improvements for Pedestrians and Motorists Safety, Crime Prevention, Job Creation and Retention, Regeneration, Maintaining and Improving Local Public Services, are just an example of the things we push to have addressed. We hope to become more active on these matters again in the Autum of 2011. Further details will be posted here.
