Housing in Tubbercurry

Over the last 9 years Tubbercurry has seen wonderful development of new top quality housing with the Celtic Tiger coming to this town as well as other parts of Ireland.
Up until 1997 new house development was generally one off houses built either by the owners or built by small builders for sale.

However the introduction of Tax Designation at that time was the kickstart housing development needed and first out of the blocks was H & M Developments with their lovely estate Rocklands.

This was followed in subsequent years by Ard Aisling, Highfield, Parklands, Fairways, The Nest, Ox Cresent, Springvale, The Rock, Whitethorn Place and Coill Dara. Some of these developments are still in the course of construction albeit nearing completion.

Prices

All developments have selections of small and large semi-detached houses as well as selection of detached houses. Price ranges in this year 2006 range from €170,000 for 3 bedroom semi-detached to approximately €200,000 for 4 bedroom semi-detached and detached houses can be up to €300,000 depending on size.

Who Buys?

The type of house purchaser in Tubbercurry is very widely spread.

Investors are purchasing to rent out houses and this has led to a very good supply of rental accommodation coming on the market.

Home owners or owner occupiers are the main category of purchasers – young single people, young couples, people moving from rented accommodation, people re-locating from Dublin or the UK – no matter what the category they are there is Tubbercurry.

East European people from the new E.U. accession states have also moved here to set up a new life. English and German families have been moving to South Sligo for decades as they found our lifestyle ideal.

Affordability of housing is a major attraction for many people – houses in Tubbercurry are between €50,000 – €100,000 cheaper than similar type houses in Sligo City, yet we are within a 30 minute drive. People are quite willing to commute this distance and proof is that many people living in Sligo actually decide to relocate to Tubbercurry.

Quality of life and education is also a factor. There are in total over 50 clubs and societies operating in the greater Tubbercurry area offering a wide range of sporting and social activities.

Estate Agent Roger McCarrick of McCarrick & Sons Real Estate Alliance reports he has sold dozens of houses to young couples who decided on Tubbercurry because of the quality schools of both Holy Family Primary School and St. Attractas Community School.

New housing developments continue to be constructed and local estate agents can supply an extensive selection of houses for the prospective purchaser.
