Tubbercurry Tidy Town Committee A great crowd attended the launch of the Tubbercurry Tidy Town 3 year plan at Murphy’s Hotel recently. There was a genuine air of enthusiasm for moving the project forward with representations from most roads, streets and housing estates. Talks were given by local resident and veterinary surgeon Michael Casey on a ‘Common Swift’ project being undertaken locally while consultant Michael Kirby and Chairperson Geraldine Brennan also outlined the vision for the next few years. Any new resident in town or others interested in becoming involved for social reasons as well as for the common good should contact Geraldine at her work place ‘The Laundry Basket’ on Mountain Road.
Tubbercurry
Tidiest Small Town in County Sligo 2011
Awarded by Sligo County Council
Congratulations to Geraldine Brennan and all the helpers and supporters of Tubbercurry Tidy Towns. From The Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce and Community Association Limited.
The Annual Spring Clean takes place this Sat. 25th February meeting 10 a.m. at The Square. Organised by Tubbercurry Tidy Towns Committee this is a badly needed activity that can actually be good fun. Each approach road needs a thorough clean up under bushes, behind ditches and walls and over fences. If each road provided half a dozen collectors and if each estate did similarly, a great job could be done in a couple of hours. Bags and gloves will be provided at the start 10.a.m at Wolf Tone Square. Children should be encouraged to come along as it will be an eye opening experience for them and make them realise how we thrash our own environment. Everybody welcome to take part.
Further Congratulations to Geraldine and her Committee on the results of the National Tidy Towns Results.
